MUNSELL® Plant Tissue Color Charts
The color of plant tissues reflect the influence of light, water, temperatures and chemical composition of the soil, especially when the soil is deficient in nutrients. Nutrient deficiencies are represented by a mottled appearance of the foliage. These color changes can also serve as a reference gauge for the relationship between plant tissue and chemical content of the soil. Color of plant tissue can also reveal the genetic origin of plants, effect of toxic substances or the action of parasitic organisms. The MUNSELL System analyzes color on the basis of hue, value and chroma. These attributes are arranged in orderly scales of equal visual steps. 320 matte color chips are permanently mounted on charts for 17 basic hues: 2.5R 2.5YR 2.5Y 5GY 5G 2.5B 5R 5YR 5Y 7.5GY 7.5G 5RP 10R 7.5YR 2.5GY 2.5G 5BG
