“Quick Draw” Soilmoisture Probe
The "Quick Draw" system uses a patented portable tensiometer to quickly obtain soil moisture readings in a variety of soils and in all types of weather. Tensiometers are widely recognized as the only instrument that measures the forces that determine moisture flow in soil. Readings can be taken in 3-5 minutes in sandy loam and 12-15 minutes in heavy clay. The tensiometer probe consists of a patented thermally isolated, water filled probe and a hi-flow ceramic tip. Water movement between the ceramic tip and the soil creates a vacuum which is registered on a gauge at the top. This reading, from 0-100 centibars, is a reading of the moisture content in the soil. The higher the reading, the drier the soil. For accuracy, the large vacuum gauge is hermetically sealed against weather and shock, and features adjustments for calibration. A vacuum adjustment knob also allows the user to estimate a moisture range, shortening the measurement time. A coring tool is included for making the proper length and size hole for installing the tensiometer. All steel construction for years of use.
