JMC Environmentalist’s Sub-Soil Probe (ESP)
The portable alternative to power probes. With the use of extensions the ESP can take a 3 ft. lined sample at depths up to 21 feet in most areas, depending on soil conditions. A selection of stainless steel cutting heads makes easy work of sampling in hard clay, frozen soil and packed earth. To use, place a clean liner in the sampling tube, position the manual slide hammer on the extension and drive the tube into the ground. The built-in foot jack will rapidly remove the sampling tube with over 1,350 pounds of lifting force. If the tube can be driven, the foot jack can remove it. To sample at greater depths, a master extension and regular extensions must be purchased separately. The first additional extension must be the 3 foot master extension, which has the necessary connections to attach to the slide hammer. After that, regular 3 ft. extensions can be added. Extensions come with cross pin connections. Use pin ejection tool to easily remove cross pins. Solid point driving tip is also available to reach desired sampling depth without taking samples.
