Nos. 58071 and 58072 test engine anti-freeze protection for ethylene glycol and propylene glycol between 32° to -60°F (0° to -48°C). Also coolant concentrations on a 0-70% scale for ethylene glycol and 0-63% scale for propylene glycol, and battery charges. Nos. 58073, 58074, 58075, 58076 and 58077 measure solids percentage as sucrose (Brix) in water-soluble solutions. Ideal for use in the production of soft drinks, fruit juices, wine and beer, determining fruit ripeness, and for quality control in vending and beverage dispensing equipment. No. 58074 also measures on the Kloster-neuburger scale (KI°) and the Oechsle scale (Oe°). No. 58080 provides rapid, high-precision refractive index and salinity reading of the total dissolved solids of aqueous solutions. Useful in oceanography and seawater studies, for quality control in research and clinical laboratories, and for preparation of frozen vegetables, fruits, seafood and ocean by-products.

All models use distilled water as a calibration fluid. Readings on precision models are comparable to benchtop Abbe refractometers.
