EMD Readycult® Coliforms 100 Drinking Water Test

EPA-approved method confirms E. coli immediately.

Traditional testing methods for E. coli can take up to four days. Readycult Coliforms 100 Test uses the indole test for immediate E. coli confirmation and tests simultaneously for the presence of total coliforms. Vivid color change eliminates guesswork. Each Test is a premeasured, single-use, sterilized packet of media. No refrigeration required. Three-year shelf life (from production date). Add to sample, mix and incubate up to 24 hours at 35°–37°C. Culture medium changes color from yellow to blue-green if coliforms are present. A light blue fluorescence under UV light (366nm) indicates presence of E. coli. For confirmation, add Kovac’s Indole Reagent (sold separately); if a red ring appears, confirmation is 99% positive—no need for confirmation steps that take another 24–48 hours. Test requires that sample bottles be both sterile and free of plastic resins with autofluorescing properties. When testing treated drinking water, chlorine residual must first be neutralized. Use Sterile Sample Bottles only for nonchlorinated water. For treated water, use Sample Bottles with Dechlorinating Agent (sodium thiosulfate).
