Your controlled burn went well and now you’re almost ready to head back to the station. Before you leave, though, you want to check for hot spots that may flare up later and cause problems. What’s the easiest, safest way to do this? With an Extech® IR Thermometer. Just point the laser at a target and pull the trigger to get a temperature reading on any surface. Each model lets you safely monitor potentially dangerous, high-temperature conditions not only at your controlled burn site, but in greenhouses, forests, wildlands and other outdoor environments. These noncontact devices use infrared technology to quickly and accurately measure surface temperatures. All units feature a backlit display that’s easy to read in any lighting condition and come with a protective carrying case and 9V battery. Choose from seven distance-to-spot ratios and a variety of temperature ranges. No. 113451 displays maximum and minimum readings. No. 132773 offers the widest temperature range and the highest distance-to-spot ratio to measure smaller surface areas at greater distances. No. 143536 includes a type K thermocouple sensor for taking contact measurements. It also displays maximum and minimum readings. No. 148431 and No. 148432 have dual lasers that converge to identify the exact measuring spot. Fast 0.15-second response time is ideal for quick checks of multiple spots or for catching temperature spikes. No. 148432 adds a certificate traceable to NIST standards.
