Reflectoquant

Document Number: 1225
Applications
Accurate testing of water in the field for on-site analysis and screening,
testing of water in plants for monitoring and quality control, and spot checking
of laboratory results and procedures. Appropriate when quick and relatively
accurate results are needed.
Features & Construction
High impact plastic houses an LCD display with large easy to read numbers.
Determines the concentrations of compounds by measuring the light reflected from
two reaction zones on a test strip. The measurements from the two zones are
averaged to produce a more accurate final result. Has a built in bar code reader
to read the test and calibration strips and only four buttons for ease of
operation. Self contained and portable, it will store up to 50 test results and
up to five test methods. Auto off after two minutes when no key has been
pressed, automatic self-diagnostic when switched on. Also displays time and
date.
Use & Operation
Unit can be calibrated before use by means of the calibration bar code and
strip: merely insert the barcode and CAL is displayed, then insert the
calibration strip and press the start button upon which CAL disappears and the
unit is calibrated. Basic measurement is performed by inserting a barcode for
that test into the meter or by selecting a method which has already been entered
(holds five). Dip the test strip into the sample and simultaneously press the
Start button. Remove the test strip and wait for the meter to count down 60 sec.
(it will beep at the end). Insert the strip into the meter's measurement chamber
and the result will be displayed momentarily and stored in sequence
automatically, along with the time and date. When the memory is full the oldest
results are overwritten by the most recent test results. The test results can be
viewed by scrolling through the memory. Data transfer to a PC can be
accomplished using a special interface cable and software program.
Related Products & Accessories
Test strips (50) as listed in catalog and on the accompanying list, along
with accessories and replacement parts. The EM Quant test strips are also
available but are much less accurate. They are less expensive in the short run
as no meter is required to read them.
Additional Information
When the low battery symbol appears, the meter will perform about 20 more
tests after which the unit cannot be switched on. The meter cannot be calibrated
when the battery is low. Batteries will last for about 1000 measurements. If the
unit proves to be defective within the warranty period the manufacturer will
exchange the instrument immediately.
Common Questions
| Q. |
How long will the meter store results? |
| A. |
Until they are intentionally deleted or when a new method is
entered via barcode. Entering a new method into position 3 for example,
would cause the results from the previous method in that position only to
be erased. The results from the other 4 methods would be retained in
memory. |
| Q. |
Are there any other tests available? |
| A. |
Only the tests on the list are available. As new tests are
being developed they are added to the Coming Soon portion of the list. |
| Q. |
How often does the meter require recalibration? |
| A. |
The meter should be recalibrated in case of suspect results,
after the strip adaptor or white standard is changed, after severe
mechanical treatment (fall, etc.) and in the case of an error display. |
| Q. |
How durable is the meter? |
| A. |
It is very robust but should be handled carefully like any
other electronic device to minimize chance of damage. It does have
environmental limits, and should not be cleaned with solvents or abrasive
cleaners (ethanol or mild detergent can be used). |
| Q. |
What is the resolution? |
| A. |
Tests which have ranges listed with a decimal value, such as
0.5, have a resolution of 0.1 ppm. Tests listed without decimals have
resolutions of 1 ppm. An exception is the pH test which has a resolution
of 0.01. |
