Munsell® Soil Color Chart

Color Chart Accurately Describes Your Soil Samples

Munsell Soil Color Charts were developed in cooperation with the U.S. Soil Conservation Service guidelines for classifying colors of various soils. They help you and your colleagues across the room—and across the country—clearly communicate exactly what type of soil you are analyzing. They can also be used for rocks, archaeological specimens, animal pelage and other natural products in this color range.

Munsell Soil Chart

I'm currently shopping, but will have to first hunt off-market for a replacement for my Munsell Soil Chart, as the price here has gone up tremendously, and the cardboard cover the product is sold in just doesn't warrant the price - the intended use is for dirty, wet field conditions, under which I won't want to use the new, expensive edition with the cardboard cover.

      Useless cardboard cover!!!

        Best Uses

Being a "soil color chart," one could easily imagine that the person looking to use this particular book would be near soils (ie outside). Why would you then make it out of a material that would swell if exposed to wet dirt? Go back to the old covers!

The old plastic covers were compact and more useful while in the field. The cardboard covers are easily damaged by frequent exposure to humidity.

It would be helpful to sell alternative binders as replacements for the cardboard binders.

Comments about Munsell® Soil Color Chart:

Like the new pages but this new binder cover is useless. It is too big to fit in field vest and keeps falling out. Plus when it falls out you have to really look for it because of the new brow color. Miss the old blue binders.
