Hess Stream Bottom Samplers Pick Up Samples at Various Depths

The modified Hess Stream Bottom Samplers feature a stainless steel cylinder with two upstream and downstream windows of Nitex® nylon and two strong handles for forcibly pushing the cylinder into gravel or rocky stream bottoms. Depth can be varied by attaching the handles to either end of the sampler. Water flows through the upstream and downstream windows and into the collecting net and bucket. A net adapter and straining bucket are attached to the downstream end of the net for easy sample removal. Sampler cylinder measures 13" dia. x 16"H with a bottom open area of 0.086 sq. meters, (133 sq. in.). Downstream net is constructed of Nitex nylon in a choice of mesh sizes. Choose from 1000, 600 and 500µm.
