AMS Gas Vapor Probe Kit

Probe Kit Quickly Samples Soil Gas Vapors and Shallow Groundwater

Excellent for monitoring and sampling hydrocarbon spill sites, underground storage tanks and pipelines. The Gas Vapor Probe Kit uses a rotary drive hammer and drive extensions to insert a stainless steel soil gas vapor probe (GVP) to the desired sampling depth. PTFE Resin tubing is attached to a barb fitting the GVP for remote sampling from the surface.
Two GVP designs are available depending on usage. The standard GVP is a dedicated probe that can be installed as a permanent sample point or simply left in the ground as a disposable point. The vapor inlet holes are slightly recessed and are protected by the drive tubes to prevent them from becoming clogged during installation. A PTFE Resin umbrella can be placed above the inlet holes prior to installation and unfolds when the drive tube is removed. The umbrella then creates a shield that further prevents dirt from plugging the inlet holes.
The Retract-A-Tip design is also made of stainless steel and can be inserted and subsequently removed without damaging the tip. When the sampling depth is reached, the drive tube is pulled up to expose the inlet holes for sampling. The point can then be driven deeper, reopened, and another sample taken.
Either GVP can be used to sample groundwater with the use of the included hand pump or peristaltic pump. For shallow sampling, the gas vapor probe kits can also be used with the hollow stem augerfor rapid drilling. (AMS Hollow Stem Auger, #226211)
